And I thought I wouldn’t have anything to post about today…

Posted in Randomness at 5:24 pm by mystrawberrylane

No knitting occured last night. I fell asleep and Mrs. Valentine has only 2 legs and a stumpy bit of a tummy to show for it.

I was thinking that I would have nothing to post about. My sister has pics of an FO of mine on her camera which she PROMISED she’d email DAYS ago.  But well, she’s 14 and that is not high on her to-do list. Wait – she’s 14, what to-do list!?

Then I saw THIS (scroll down to Angelica)

Yes the pattern’s been out a while and yes I’ve seen it but then I saw it with new eyes. With “I want to start something new but Hubby’s birthday is comming up and I can’t buy yarn” eyes.  And something about seeing it in a different color got me interested.

I have my eye on this color hip knits purple ooooohh yeah!

If you haven’t noticed, i am a “Dream Knitter” I dream more than I knit, I buy more yarn, I have 800 UFO’s.  But I do finish things I swear!! But a lot of them I rip out!! hee hee

I WILL I SWEAR get an FO gallery up soon. And it is my New Year’s resolution to finish more things.  To finish a SWEATER!!

Mr. Valentine

Posted in knitting at 3:03 pm by mystrawberrylane

Ok, so he’s not finished, and he should be. But I have the most fabulous of plans for him and I couldn’t wait for an FO pic to talk about them. As you know, Mr. Valentine is a gift for my daughter for Valentines Day. Well, I stayed up late Thursday night trying to get him finished and had plans to felt him, stuff him and give him some eyes. Then my gears started turning. You know those Halmark bears, the one’s that kiss? Well it just so happens that one of those little round magnets will just fit in his little snout area!!

So Mr. Valentine will just say where he’s at until he can join Mrs. Valentine!!! She will be just like him with the colors reversed! So I will have my own set of cutie pie kissing bears!!

If Only

Posted in knitting, Randomness at 10:28 am by mystrawberrylane

If only I had remembered to bring home my memory card for my camera from work yesterday instead of leaving it in the printer’s slot from getting pix off!!!  GRRRR then I would be posting a long overdue pic of the modified Sophie I made for my Mom.  It’s so awesome!!

And I might have posted a pic of the little valentine bear I made for Lily.  I stayed up late last night after casting off so I could weave in the ends, sew him up and put the pink on his lil ears and nose and a lil pink heart on his chest. =( Well I’ll at least throw in some yarn

fisherman.jpg     Cascade.jpg
I used the darker color for the body and the pink stuff for accents.
He is so cute!  i think I’ll name him Mr. Valentine
He needs to be felted, stuffed and eyes sewn on and he’ll be ready for hugs and love from Lily!
Also, i have some of this laying around…

the Hus got it for me for Christmas and he loves it.  I was supposed to be making him a scarf… out of Bartlett (pre wool-it-is)
Well I didn’t get too far and I hate working the cable, it takes FOREVER and I just don’t like spending all that time on not-me…

scarf.jpgI really did get a lot farther than this, but this is the only pic I have.  So long story short, he mentioned something about wanting a scarf out of the alpaca/silk but i thought it was too soft and girly, now I’m begining to wonder…  maybe doing something like a seed stitch would be nice and not too girly, with some fringe (manly fringe =) )

But, I have the Olympics comming up, and those socks aren’t going to knit themselves!! and at this rate it will be March before it gets done.  March isn’t really scarf weather her in Nashvegas!

So, USA Sock Olympic team….. While people are knitting their fair isle and complicated cable sweaters I, am going for a less ambitious knit by going for the gold in sock knitting.

So I have these 2 colors of Koigu who are at each other’s throats right now.

They both want to be Olympic socks and things are getting pretty ugly

I have to admit, I cast on with the bluish-purple and I do believe that I HATE size 1 dpns!!!!  My fingers hurt.  Who’s dumb idea was it to knit socks!!! I think I need to try the 2 circs thing.  And I’ve screwed up like 8000000000 times. Socks are harder than I thought they would be!  So I ripped it all out and I’ll get some circs, then I think I’ll practice a bit on some c-rap-ay yarn before the Olympics. Who competes in an Olympic Knit for socks when they’ve NEVER even knit 1 sock!!?!?!?

I guess I do…..

No pics right now – I wanted to post pix of my new koigu (my first Koigu) yarn and my first picot edging at the begining of my first socks (but I haven’t taken pics yet!).  I am knitting Amelia Raitte’s version of Grumperina’s Jaywalkers. (she does the picot edging instead of ribbing).

Knitting Olympics

This is also what I chose for the knitting Olympics.  I’m not cheating, I am knitting 2 pair, one now and one later.  So by the Olympics I will already have a feel for the pattern. I am entering the Knitting Olympics as an attempt to get out there in the blog world and be apart of something. No one reads my blog yet =( and I need to made some friends.

In other procrastinatory knitting news, I meant to post a pic of the “Purse Couture” I made for my Mother, an extreme variation on the Sophie.  It’s so cute! I need to get a pic and post it, it’s one of the few monumental things I have to write about!!

cat faces

So I’ve been out there reading blogs and being inspired, checking out free patterns, listening to life stories, feeling apart of an amazing group of people who craft, sew and knit. The latter of which is a COMPLETE obsession of mine. I think about knitting more times a day than a teenage box thinks about sex! I dream about it, I totally knit in my sleep. I fantasize about maxing out my credit card on Koigu, Aurora 8, and Snapcrafty handspun. When I go to Stitch n’ Bitch I can name 90% in the patterns in the room. “Oh, I see your knitting Claopotis, that’s cute” If it’s from Vouge Knitting, Glampyre, or Knitty I know it by name. I’m a total yarn-a-holic. I’m a total craft-o-holic.

My blog is boring now – I’ve registered my domain and hope to download WordPress and get some hosting so I can do this blog thing proper.

Eventually I will open up a ‘lil shop. My domain is mystrawberrylane.com and I think I’ll set up my shop under shopstrawberrylane.com

First and foremost for my shop will be custom invitaions. I went to school for Graphic Design, graduated, got my degree, had BIG plans of freelancing and taking over the world. Then little Lilyana came along. I wasn’t working whilst I was gestating which reawoken the whole craft thing and surprisingly really awoke my girly femanine side. So the career thing got put on hold.

I love to design and have been doing it for fun even when I’m not working. I designed my own wedding invitations and I really loved them and I loved doing it. I have so many ideas in my head I could totally run wild with it. So, I’m putting my heart and soul into it and hopefully bringing to the world something fun and unique to choose from and not boring old pastel and doves. I’ll be doing invitations for all kinds of occasions, complete with thank you cards and anything and everything else to go with it.

On a non-career note, I love designing crochet items, and knit items. I love making handbags and customizing t-shirts so I’ll probably end up making those available as well. With the entire motive beeing to support my craft habit! I need more YARN!!! FEED ME!!! he he

I’ll leave you with a pic of my latest knitting FO. I knit the Vouge Lacy Shawl for my G-ma. I appoligize for the terible set up of the pic. I made this for “Nanny” because she was very influential in my crafting career. She’s had me crafting since I was old enough to sit up!!
