That’s right. I’ve moved.  Mr Gamer Man got me hosting for Valentine’s Day as promised and I have spent the past few days putting up a splash page for my site and designing my blog.

My new blog is 100% me!!  I designed all the graphics and now my blog really is me!

 I actually have progress!!!

I know you probably thought I abandoned Mr. and Mrs. Valentine, but I didn’t. They were just waiting for Valenitnes Day to make their debut!!!

The Valentine Bears were made from Berrocco’s free Air Bear pattern, from Bartlett Fisherman 2-ply and Cascade 200, on size 7 needles. These are a super quick knit!!

 I decided to leave the magnets out of their snouts so they have to kiss manually. I was too afraid that Lily might get them out and choke.

She definitely loves her love bears. She’s a little under the weather today if you can’t tell =( She looks a lil sicky in the picture, but she’s hangin in there. The Doc said it’s just a little sore throat. She’ll be back to her perky self in a couple of days.

And now…… without further adue, procrastination, swear words, or throwing of things…. here is my futile Olympic Progress

(betcha thought I was NEVER going to post!!)

The Socks are still REALLY TIGHT!!! As in I have to hold my breath and break a sweat to get it over my heel. And I don’t have big feet!!! i have totally normal feet!! I’ve already gone up a needle size. But I don’t feel like starting over, so if worse come to worst, I’ll find someone with narrow feet and throw them at them give them to them!

Well….. Mister Gamer Man got invited to the Palm with Mr. Big Wig Representative from some company who’s product Mr. GM’s company sells.

I was sooo jealous. I’ve only been there once.  Mister Gamer Man took me there when we first started dating. Back then the fanciest place I had ever eaten was at Red Lobster and that was high-style according to me. It was awesome, we had soo much fun, we ordered Lobster and everything! I was super impressed.

Well, when he came home he had CHEESECAKE for me. Now, I don’t know about you but I was totally wooed by this gesture!  It was so sweet of him, he knows how much I love dessert and I love it when he remembers to think of me. (I tend to get jealous when people do fun things without me! Like a big baby…)

It was sooo good that I ate a little that night and then had it for dinner the next night (ooo so bad).

That wasn’t the only time I was able to indulge a bit in the past few days. Remember the yarn that was supposed to be here today – the day of the why the hell did I drag myself into this Olympic Opening Ceremonies?! Well, it just so happened to get here a day early!

Oh Yeah!!! So I got to spend some much needed quality time with my Somewhat Cowl. 

I don’t know why I didn’t just pick the Somewhat for my Olympic knit.  I think I couldn’t wait that long to cast on and I had every bit of faith in myself to be able to just put it down!

Yep – those socks just don’t seem so fun now.  Sorry Sock Team USA….I promise I’ll have more spirit once I cast on.

Aaaaaannnnnnnd…… I made some tees!  I just couldn’t help it. I love to design! I had this little doodle and I just made it into a tee!!

 It was so much fun, I think I’m going to make some more!  I want to make some real retro-looking kinda fun tees.  I love cafepress! 

I had no more selfcontrol with this chocolate pie this morning than I did @ kpixie yesterday.

But, the yarn I bought was like the smell of a free, freshly baked, handmade, chocolate pie.  It kept wafting my direction taunting me, teasing me, and whispering sweet nothings in my ear.

I’ve been bad.  Real real bad!

Let’s just say that after my little shopping spree yesterday, I ‘ll be brown baggin’ it the rest of the week. That’s right.  I spent my lunch money on yarn.

I set myself up for failure.  Like this morning when the boss gave me that naughtily desicious chocolate pie and I told myself, “You can just eat half of it”. “You can just knit a little bit of the Somewhat Cowl,” I told myself. “You’ll run out of yarn, but that’s ok, you’ve got to buy Birthday presents for Mister Gamer Man and besides, it’ll keep you from slacking on your Olympic Socks”.

Wrong again. I came to the end of my second hank oh-too-very-fast. Who knew I would knit that fast!?  WHO!!?? Not me, that’s for sure.

I tried to let it go, but it just kept creeping back on my mind. So in a yarn buying rampage yesterday I ordered the last 4 hanks!  They’re mine!!! ha ha ha …. uh .. ahem. And I don’t feel good. I don’t have that excited feeling.  I feel sick, like after eating the ENTIRE chocolate pie at 10 AM.

There’s more, I’m sorry…… the yarn will arrive on February 10…. The day the Olympics begins!!!!!!!

Oh I’m so bad… oh so bad…

In happier less self loathing news…..I have begun work on my FO page.  I still have to get pics of some of the stuff (there’s not much) and since I’m hurting for content I might embarass myself with a UFO page!!! Today, I’m adding my first FO!  Lily’s Alice in Wonderland “Cat Hat”. I used a basic hat pattern and added ears!  Look for more to come!

 Wow!! I can’t believe it! (and pardon the crappy pix, Mister Gamer Man was busy saving the world playing Rainbow Six so I had to take my own pix)

My very first sweater, the lovely, the gorgeous, The Somewhat Cowl. Man! I have NEVER knit so fast in my life!  You are looking at 4 days worth of knitting! I am not a fast knitter guys…. This is an accomplishment.

The bad news….. it takes 6 hanks and I only have 2 =-(

I’m almost thru the 2nd hank =*-(

Woe is me!  =-(

I sorta planned it this way but now I’m regretting it. I had these 2 hanks lying around with no real plans for them, and then decided to go ahead with this pattern.  That way, I would run out of yarn by the Olympics and not be tempted to weasle out of my sock knitting. Well who knew slowy-slowhands-knitter would get sooooooo gung ho and bust it out so fast. It helped that my husband asked smart-assily ”Are you actually going to finish that?”

I just got soooo exremely excited about this.

Maybe because it’s the first REAL object I’ve knitted myself.  Maybe because I’ve spent so much time knitting for other people.  But maybe it’s because this yarn is INSANELY luxurious!!

It’s also real nice to knit stockinette after lace and shaping. I can watch TV and knit along all at the same time!  I’m really loving the top-down raglan, it’s awesome!

I got to go to the Thursday night Stich N’ Bitch which I never get to go to because Carl and I ride to work together. I was bragging about rewarding myself with a new project after finishing a lot of things that I had lying around.

Well that’s when Sheila brought up Mr. Valentine.

Mr. and Mrs. Valentine ARE finished, as far as knitting anyways. A few people have asked about them and why I’m not posting about them, did I forget about them. And the anwer is no. If you really want to know the terrible horrible truth then I’ll give it to you!

There… the terrible horrible truth. Mr. Valentine was made with Cascade 220 which drew up a lot when felting. Mrs. Valentine was made from Bartlett and didn’t draw up at all. So Mrs. Valentine spent quite a but of time in the dryer on high while Mr. Valentine has been stretching on this torture device piece of cardboard.

The good news is it seems to work. The bad news is, Mr. Valentine is barely felted and the Misses is totally felted.

So there you go, the terribel horrible truth. Why have I not posted!? Because I wanted to spare you the morbid details! ARG!!!

Don’t despair, I will salvage them yet, hopefully the Misses wont be sooo much bigger that she looks like and Amazon Woman. I am going to get magnets and finish the job today! So stay tuned…..

You know that feeling you get when you start a new project? 

 

  

I am totally addicted to that feeling.  That feeling is what keeps me starting all kinds of new things and never finishing all the things that are half done!  It’s like puppy love, like when you first meet a someone you get the butterfies for and everything is soooo happy.  You’re even happy to get up and go to work, everything you do all day is happy as your mind drifts back to thoughts of your sweetie. That’s how I feel today.  I am in love!  In love with The Somewhat Cowl!

So in love, in fact, that I tucked it away in my bag and snuck it to work with me!!

I love this pattern, and I love this yarn!!! (Alpaca/silk from Blue Sky Alpaca) This project is my reward for finishing all my projects {except for the disas-t-o scarf I was making Carl (Pre wool-i-tis episode) and some sweater I started long long ago out of very cheap yarn}

I finished My Nanny’s Vogue wrap, I finished my Mom’s purse, I took a month to finish Lily’s bears which really should have taken mere days!(pic later… drying from felting right now)

Oh, Somewhat Cowl, I have been dreaming of you from afar, and soon you will be mine!!! Finally, something for me!! ME ME ME ME!!

It is sooo fun to start something new and awesome!  I have wanted to do a top-down raglan since forever ago! (never done one, never finished a sweater either!!)

Stopped by Threaded Bliss yesterday to pick up some needles and ended up just hanging out for about an hour. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my LYS. Everyone should have a place this cool to go to. It’s a dream come true.

So Sheila was telling me she’s setting up a site for Team Threaded Bliss for the Knitting Olympics and she needed a button. So I’ve got 3 of them I hope everyone likes them.

I’m going with button #1!!!

There was this killer yarn eating dog in my lap you see. He was so cute, yet sooooo deadly. He wouldn’t let me knit more than 3 stitches before attacking and eating my yarn!
I was trying to finish up Mrs. Valentine but he wasn’t having it.
Eventually I gave in and we snuggled and watched TV for a while!
